本文从经济发展模式、经济管理体制、经济增长绩效三者关系出发，分析了西部地区经济增长滞后的原因，并对其发展模式的选择提出了看法。作者认为，西部地区经济发展模式的转换应以充分发挥其比较优势为目标。西部地区的比较优势不是体现在能源及矿产资源的相对富裕上，而是体现在劳动力成本低廉，土地和农产品资源相对丰裕上，因此，西部地区应以劳动密集型产业为其重点发展产业，也只有作此选择，经济的另一种转型——经济体制的市场化进程才能加速，西部地区的经济增长绩效才能突现
Based on the relationship between economic development mode, economic management system and economic growth performance, this paper analyzes the reasons for the lag of economic growth in the western region and puts forward some opinions on the choice of its development mode. The author believes that the transformation of the economic development model in the western region should aim to give full play to its comparative advantages. The comparative advantage in the western region is not reflected in the relative wealth of energy and mineral resources but in terms of low labor costs and relative abundance of land and agricultural products. Therefore, the western region should focus on the development of industries with labor-intensive industries. Only by making this choice and another economic transformation can the acceleration of the marketization process of the economic system become apparent in the performance of economic growth in the western region
