The cleaning of motion picture film is essential for the film printing process; it is equally important for glue magnetics because the film will pick up some dirt after it is processed or transported once. 37 years ago, the standard film cleaning solvent methyl chloroform (1,1,1 trichloroethane). However, as of December 31, 1995, this solvent will no longer be produced. Without alternative shaving methods, the delicate construction of motion picture film, along with precious, often irreplaceable, information, can easily be damaged. This motivates people to look for other ways to keep their films, operators and the environment safe. This article will discuss some of them.
