Old Liu was greeting five workers to move the red brick that had just arrived from Chengdu to a fully equipped kitchen. According to his estimation, up to a dozen days, this three-storey house was completed. Lao Liu is a villager of Yangliu Village, Taiping Township, Maoxian County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Nearly a year and a half after his death, he and his wife, two daughters and one son moved into a new home. Yangliu village was originally in the mountains, is one of the few still retain the traditional village of Qiang stone houses. Last year’s strong earthquake caused the houses in the village to collapse and crack, so they could no longer reside. Willow Village reconstruction is not a small project. The manpower needs blowout after the earthquake, inadequate material supply and the fact that most of the affected families are on the brink of bankruptcy are stumbling blocks to the reconstruction. At the same time, the reconstruction needs to take into account the local people’s habits and the sustainable development of the ecological environment. How can we realize the mass production of affordable housing in a short period of time?
