Located on the southernmost tip of South Korea, Jeju Island offers scenic and pleasant weather, unique volcanic remains and spectacular ocean views that attract tens of millions of tourists from all over the world. At the beginning of November 1999, at the invitation of the Korea Tourism Organization, we invited Jeju Island to assist the ROK in hosting the World Dinosaur Exhibition. After the intense and busy preparatory work, the enthusiastic president accompanied us to enjoy the beautiful scenic spots of Jeju Island and witnessed the simple folk custom of the area. Jeju Island, located in the southwestern waters of the Korean Peninsula, is Korea’s largest island. It was formed in the Tertiary to Quaternary, due to dozens of volcanoes. According to records, about 20 million years ago, it is the same as the rest of the Korean Peninsula.
