“熟能生巧”是一句古老的格言。至于达及完美,该格言只是在存在普遍一致的情形下才具有意义。然而,跨文化或跨阶层的运用会很快表明事情的完美或不完美其性质是十分不确定的。站在我的国家艺术基金的民间艺术纲领的角度观察,我们发现仅仅只一年我们自己便陷入到约150种完全不同的文化投射之中。毫不夸张地说,我能够证实:确定由这些努力的任何一种来达到特别完满的程度都已证明是相当棘手的。
“Practice makes perfect” is an old adage. As far as perfection is concerned, the maxim is only meaningful in the presence of universality. However, the application of intercultural or cross-strata will soon be very uncertain about the nature of its perfection or imperfection. From the perspective of the folk art program of my National Arts Fund, we find ourselves in about 150 completely different cultural projections in only one year. It is no exaggeration to say that I can confirm that it has proved quite tricky to establish the degree of particular perfection achieved by any of these efforts.
