With the implementation of CEPA, Hong Kong investment in Guangdong has shown a good momentum of growth. By the end of 2007, there had been 43,256 Hong Kong-owned enterprises in the province, with a total investment of 196.898 billion U.S. dollars and a registered capital of 117.228 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 64.77%, 56.14% and 57.44% of all foreign-funded enterprises in Guangdong Province. Hong Kong residents applied for a total of 2279 individual industrial and commercial households in Guangdong Province with a total amount of 130 million yuan, accounting for 88.2% and 89.9% of the total number of individual industrial and commercial households and Hong Kong and Macao residents respectively doing business in the Mainland.
