迄今为止,分期断代在世界史研究中仍然占据着举足轻重的地位,一般都认为,不把历史进程划分为几个时期和阶段,就无从厘清历史发展的脉络,也就无法探寻历史发展的线索和规律。但是,历史分期的研究方法如今被全球史观全新的史学思维范式完全否定了。全球史观反对历史主义史学把历史看作是连续发展过程的观点,主张把一切发展、变化或历史现象都纳入共时性研究,强调非连续的变化过程。一般认为,对欧洲中心论的批判使全球史观的史学家们抛弃了历史分期法。但全球史观之所以抛弃分期法,更为深刻的原因是该学派的新的横向史学思维范式中没有分期法的合理性和逻辑依据。分期问题不再只是技术问题和方法问题,而是上升到历史哲学的高度。
Up to now, staging dating still occupies a pivotal position in the study of world history. Generally speaking, it is generally believed that unless the historical process is divided into several periods and stages, it is impossible to clarify the context of historical development and to explore the clues of historical development and law. However, the research methods of historical staging are now completely negated by the brand new historical thinking paradigm of global history. Global History Opposes Historicism Historiography considers history as a continuous development process. It advocates that all development, changes or historical phenomena should be included in synchronic studies and that non-continuous changes should be emphasized. It is generally accepted that the critique of European centralism has discarded historical staging by historians of global history. However, the reason why the abandonment of the staging method by the global historical view is more profound is that there is no rationality and logic of the staging method in the new paradigmatic mode of transverse historiography of the school. The staging issue is no longer just a matter of technical problems and methodological issues, but rises to the height of historical philosophy.
