At 18:00 on July 18, 2002, the 16th Lotus Exhibition, co-sponsored by Lotus Association of China Flower Association and Kunming Municipal People’s Government of Yunnan Province, was grandly opened in the main venue of Cuihu Park in Kunming. Honorary President of Lotus Branch, Gao Zhanxiang, Secretary of Chinese Federation Literary Party Group, Chen Junyu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and relevant leaders of Kunming attended the opening ceremony.
