人类社会中,最能充分体现苍生百姓分享文明成果的大概莫过于道路了。从民国初期广西军阀陆荣廷主持修建的广西第一条公路到今天壮乡四通八达的公路网,从带有极为浓厚的个人专用色彩的邕武公路到“大西南出海通道”、“中国—东盟最便捷的国际大通道”,广西公路发生了深刻的变化。同时,也带来了人们行走观念和政府执政理念的深刻变化。千里路途一日还“八山一水一分地”是广西地貌的概括,意思是,广西山多,行路难,多歧路。而世居此间的少数民族同胞,由于躲避战乱和其它原因,总喜欢往山里住,加上受“父母在,不远游”、“非礼勿动勿行”信念教化,一般都不喜欢走动,即使走动也不远。因此,受农耕文明和客观条件的制约,广西的交通一直比较落后。而今天,广西的交通建设成就却令世人惊叹。
