作者1976年以杂交稻南优二号为材料,经花药离体培养,取100块愈伤组织分化培养7天后(培养条件:温度23°—28℃,加光照11小时/天),用CO_2激光(安徽农用激光育种协调组由安光所提供器件和操作人员)辐照,获得激光苗13丛,经盆栽成活8丛,育性正常2丛,半不育2丛,全不育4丛。1977年〈HL_2〉二代在海南崖城南滨农场冬繁8440个单株,育性正常7100株,半不育856株,经观察发现部份半不育植株与育性正常植株基本一致。据认为,这类半不育现象属染色体易位,经数代自交纯合,育性可以转为正常。当时选得半不育单株种子,在铜陵正季经1978—1981年四代自交繁育,选得育性正常材料四份,南易1、2、3、4号,1982—1986年将种子保存在干燥器中,1987年冬到1988年春在海南省陵水南繁,现已第十代
