本期的“秉笔直书”栏目，以较大的篇幅编发了南京航空航天大学教授、博士生导师谢求成先生的批评文章《盗名欺世，值得警惕》，同时，还编发了黑龙江省安达市政协委员高振龄先生的批评文章《金玉其外，败絮其中》，两篇文章都是批评时事出版社出版邓振宇等编的《毛泽东评点二十四史·人物精选》。以如此之大的篇幅，同时刊发两篇批评同一部书的文章，在本刊历史上还是第一次。我们之所以这样做，目的是要说明三个问题：首先，出书要讲政治，社会主义出版方针不能丢，任何人都不能不择手段利用领袖之名行骗钱之实；其二，出书要讲章法，为了追求利润而粗制滥造，不仅坑害读者，到头来也必然搬起石头砸自已的脚；其三，出书要讲程序，讲纪律，属于报批的选题必须报批，重大选题备案制度必须坚持，买卖书号现象必须制止，三审制度不能走过场。一些图书所以出现问题，大都在这几方面不讲程序，不讲纪律，见利忘义造成的，建议读者特别是出版工作者能花点时间读读这两篇文章。
