“九五”期间,民族教育工作以邓小平理论和党的十四大、十五大精神为指导,以贯彻落实《中国教育改革和发展纲要》和《面向21世纪教育振兴行动计划》为重点,不失时机地抓住西部大开发的机遇,既注意民族教育与全国教育发展战略、基本方针和宏观政策相协调,又充分考虑民族特点、区域特点,切实重视民族教育的改革和发展,本着统一性和特殊性相结合的原则,从少数民族和民族地区的生产生活实际出发,遵循教育内部发展规律,深化改革,采取措施,扶持民族教育,不断探索发展民族教育的新路子。随着国家扶持力度的加大,民族教育自身改革的深入,民族教育获得了空前的发展,取得了辉煌成就。
