Untranslatability has long been a highly controversial topic in both China and the western world. But as of now, it seems far from agreement. It is also a question that scholars have discussed many times about which are translatable and which are not translatable. In fact, with regard to the untranslatability, there is an article that summarizes all the theories of the East and the West about this issue that the author can not do without, since the various points of view that deal with the issue are endless, not to mention combing these Point of view. This article is only a brief analysis of some representative theories on the untranslatability of Western translators in the mid-to-late 20th century. When necessary, they use some ideas beyond the 20th century or beyond the western world.
