“Lottery” is the classic American actress Shirley Jackson, first published in the United States in 1948, “New Yorker” magazine. The novel describes an appalling story of an entire town of a small town participating in an annual lottery and, finally, stone-smashing those who lost it. From the perspective of Jung’s collective unconsciousness and archetype, the author proves that lottery is a sacrificial offering in disguise. It is a model of sacrificing one life to extend other life. It is the human being’s fear and anxiety about death and the human being’s thirst for eternal life The prototype of the ritual, so sounding makes selfish desire to get social assurances and recognition.
