On November 1-3, 2013, the Chiang Kai-shek research group at the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Science held “International Symposium on” the Relations between the KMT and the CPC and Sino-Japanese War "in Taipei. A total of 27 relevant papers were submitted by experts and scholars attending the symposium. At the beginning of the meeting, Chen Yongfa, a member of the Academia Sinica, gave a keynote speech. In particular, he pointed out: Unlike the Kuomintang’s enemy-left work that takes military forces as its consideration, the CPC pushes the enemy forces behind in the countryside and establishes a model of mutual trust between the party and the peasants.
