In order to adapt to the development of science and technology in oil industry and to give full play to the role of science and technology journals in academic exchanges, promotion of scientific and technological achievements and personnel training, as early as 1983, many editorial staff actively advocated the establishment of “China Petroleum Science and Technology Journal Compilation and Editing.” In 1984, the relevant comrades conducted a study on the establishment of the editors’ association and got the direct concern and support from Comrade Weng Yongqing, chief editor of the Chinese natural science journals, and then formally applied for joining China Natural Science
