当代美国文学名家苏珊·桑塔格是一位有着深厚欧洲文化背景的文化人,她才华出众,学识渊博,观察敏锐,富有正义感;她的写作领域广泛,涉及当代西方文化几乎所有层面,在小说、文论、电影、摄影、戏剧诸多领域的理论和实践齐头并进,成就卓著,为世界文化留下了异常丰富的文化和精神遗产。面对这样一位作家,要让她的作品好懂易解,是一件难以想象的事情。换言之,桑塔格研究是个具有相当难度的课题。因此,无论是在国外,还是在中国学术界,桑塔格研究还不够深入,我们对她的文字和思想的感受和理解尚难说熨帖。
Contemporary American literary master Susan Sontag is a cultural person with a profound European cultural background. She is highly talented, knowledgeable, observant and full of sense of justice. Her writing covers a wide range of fields and covers almost all aspects of contemporary Western culture. The theory and practice in many fields of novels, literary theory, film, photography and drama go hand in hand with outstanding achievements, leaving an exceptionally rich cultural and spiritual legacy to the world culture. In the face of such a writer, to make her works easy to understand, is an unimaginable thing. In other words, Sontag research is a very difficult subject. Therefore, whether in foreign countries or in academia in China, Sontag’s research is still not deep enough. It is hard to say that we feel and understand her words and thoughts.
