法律年度開啟典禮一向被法律界視為司法機構為來年訂定工作計劃的盛事。這場合不單提供機會自我反省,亦可在此時為社會申張公義訂下指標。在我看來,更為重要的是典禮公開,透明地彰顯法院與法律專業的緊密關係,並顯示香港特區法院及法律專業持份者對司法獨立的重視,和捍衛法治精神的認同。香港大律師公會以捍衛司法獨立,及時刻確 The legal year’s opening ceremony has always been regarded by the legal profession as a major event for the judiciary to set a work plan for the coming year. This occasion not only provides the opportunity for self-reflection, but also sets an indicator for the community to take justice at this time. More importantly, it seems to me that the ceremony openly and transparently demonstrates the close relationship between the court and the legal profession. It also shows the importance Hong Kong SAR courts and law practitioners attach to judicial independence and their defense of the spirit of the rule of law.
