Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) self-tuning algorithm based on correlation coefficient identification was developed. Based on this algorithm, PID self-tuning software was developed under Windows 9x & NT. The successful application of the software in atmospheric pressure plant of Liaohe Oilfield Refinery shows that the algorithm has good robustness and strong anti-interference ability. The software is easy to operate and is suitable for popularization and application in practical industrial processes
