朱熹作为一代大教育家,积极从事讲学五十余年,无论为官为民,他每到一地均积极整顿县学州学,创办了同安县学、寒泉精舍、武夷精舍、沧州精舍(即考亭书院),恢复白鹿洞书院和岳麓书院。为国家培养了一大批人才。他在长期教育实践中所形成的一系列教育管理思想,至今仍有很重要的借鉴意义。一、朱熹的教育目的教育目的是教育存在的最高原因,是确立和评价教育活动的价值尺度,它指导规范着教育管理、教育改革和教育实践等诸多内容。在教育目的上,朱熹提出了“古之学者,终乎为士,终乎为圣人”的思想观点。
