报社派我去上海,任务之一是写一篇关于访巴金的通讯稿。我既高兴,又作难。解放前,我在读书的时候,看过巴金写的《家》、《春》、《秋》。解放后,又陆续读过他的一些名著。现在能有机会去采写这位饮誉中国和世界的文学巨匠,当然是一件很光荣的事情。可是,听说巴老身负中国作家协会主席等重任,又有繁重的创作任务,而他年岁大,已八十一岁,身体不太好,所以一般由有关部门谢绝采访。要获得采访巴老的机会,很难。
