Founded in 1869, the National Museum of Natural History in New York City is one of the largest museums in the world. The museum covers a total area of more than 190,000 square meters, a total of 45 fixed exhibition halls, each year to receive about 5 million visitors. The museum houses more than 32 million collections, including astronomical, biological, mineral, plant and human specimens from all over the world. Due to the large number of collections, only about 10% of them have the chance to be exhibited. Here are some photos from the official website of the museum showing the unoccupied holding rooms and thousands of precious items being sorted and placed on countless drawers and shelves.
