Chekhov (1860-1904), a Russian novelist and dramatist, was the last prominent writer of Russian critical realism at the end of the nineteenth century. His work, with its refined language and unique perspective, reflects the life of the working people under the dark realities. Every time I read these novels about “Little Characters ”, I can not help but admire Chekhov’s superb artistic techniques and delicate emotions. With a small theme, people truly feel the life style of such characters. Feel the hardships of their lives, frustration and tragedy. The sadness of these “little people ” also aroused our infinite thinking of life.
