To determine the applicability of fractal analysis to geological interpretation of subsurface data, a fractal method (heavy (new) subscript (fixed) distance analysis) was applied to the Brent Group (Middle Jurassic) of the river-delta facies Dunlin field in the northern North Sea Cable logging data analysis. The analysis results show that the fractal dimension of gamma ray logging (GR) is between 1.0025 and 1.1033. Higher dimensions may indicate that the lithology of the formation or the stronger the heterogeneity of the reservoir. However, the analysis of the implementation process shows that the concept of fractal should pay attention to the interpretation of log data. The changes in the calculation process may cause the estimated single-well fractal dimension to change more than the change between wells. The validity and applicability of fractal in cable logging geological interpretation require careful analysis.
