The primary purpose of automatic monitoring of perforation parameters in surface mines is to optimize perforation capabilities and evaluate drill bit, drill pipe and perforation quality and, more importantly, to obtain more timely and more detailed lithologic data through perforation in order to make tactical decisions as mining progresses . Mining advances are related to rock digability, blasting design, drainage, slope stability and grade control. Perforation monitoring is more widely used in Europe than North America.
