日本住友金属公司最近正在开发新型动车用转向架。其中有适合在新干线和原有线路上联运的400系列转向架,改进了结构的新型住友转向架,主要有提高曲线通过性能的径向转向架、带有空气弹簧装置或气压控制器的主动控制转向架、采用高强度钢、铝合金、FRP(玻璃纤维增强塑料)等制造的轻型转向架。它们的开发均着眼于用户对提高列车运行速度、改善乘坐舒适性、便于维修等的需求。
