It is generally accepted that interferon (IFN) is not immunogenic in the same species. However, Vallbracht (1981) reported that one patient treated with human fibroblast interferon produced IgG antibodies against IFN-β. Three cases were reported here to produce the corresponding antibodies in patients treated with partially purified human leukocyte interferon (PIF), IFNa, for tumors. One case was a 45-year-old female patient with metastatic breast cancer; a case two was a 66-year-old male patient with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who received PIF.
