眼病的治疗在很多情况下不需要全身用药,只需局部给药即可。例如,眼结膜炎的治疗,在应用抗感染药物时只要用于眼的外部就行。需要渗透入眼内的药物如生物碱、一些激素及局部麻醉药在局部给药时均能透入眼内。由于血眼屏障的存在,阻碍了很多药物在全身给药时在眼前部达到治疗浓度,因此,眼前部的疾病多采用局部给药。
