在成人T淋巴细胞白血病(ATL)细胞中,人类T细胞白血病Ⅰ型病毒(HTLV-Ⅰ)非结构基因编码的TAX蛋白对调节病毒的复制和核因子κB(nuclear factor kappa B,NFκB)的激活起关键作用。NFκB是一类细胞核转录因子,它能通过经典的TAX蛋白激活途径或者通过不依赖TAX蛋白的途径而活化,使得宿主细胞CD4~+T淋巴细胞内一系列与细胞增殖存活有关的基因表达,如细胞因子、细胞凋亡调控蛋白、抗凋亡蛋白等,最终细胞无限增殖和转化导致ATL的发生,近些年NFκB已被作为治疗ATL的分子靶点。
