A new desulfurization method relies on high pressure carbon dioxide to break sulfur-sulfur crosslinks in twin-screw extruders. The approach was successfully developed at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, with the financial support of OCE (Ontario Centers of Excellence) and Michelin. The technology is being used today by Tyromer
