小学语文从第一册到第十册都有数量不少的插图。即使是第十册,也有十一篇插图(包括两篇“看图学文”)。这些插图就其内容来看,有的是学生不常见的事物(如第六册18课中的骆驼),有的是故事情节的生动表现(如第二册17课中的乌鸦喝水),有的则是课文的主要内容(如第十册17课中的武松打虎)……通过这些插图教学,能帮助学生认识新事物,理解并掌握课文内容和知识。因此,它们是课文不可分割的组成部分,不是可有可无的东西,在阅读教学中,在开发学生智力、培养学生能力方面,有它的独特作用,应当引起我们的足够重视。
