Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) is a great poet, but also a critique of the naturalist novelist. Jude, the Anonymous, is Hardy’s last novel and strongly criticizes Victorian society. The book was published early, aroused strong opposition in all walks of life. By describing Jude’s marriage and love, the book reveals how Jude gradually has lost his love and happiness from a working-class progressive youth. The purpose of this article is to analyze the heroic love tragedy and its causes in the nameless Jude Book. Starting from the social background of this novel to help readers better understand the love tragedy of Jude and Shu. Analyze their love tragedies from the differences of personality between Jude and Shu. Finally, summarize the article and persuade young people falling in love to find true love, not only need a suitable social environment, but also need mutual understanding and mutual respect.
