类书是不是百科全书古罗马瓦洛和普里尼等人的那些并不以“百科全书”为名的著作,一直被认定为西方古代的百科全书。那么,中国古代的类书是不是百科全书?外国研究百科全书历史的学者回答是肯定的;我国学者的回答则不尽是一个声音,或不完全肯定,或肯定得有点犹豫。这不奇怪,因问题提得有点含混。第一,将近1800年来,中国历代的类书汗牛充栋,门类繁杂。近人大概区分一下,已有10门(邓嗣禹编《燕京大学图书馆目录初稿》)
