韩世昌是北方昆曲一代名伶,其1928年代表中国昆曲第一次赴日演出更是被日本学界称为“复兴昆曲的伟人”。而作为韩世昌1928年赴日演出邀请人之一的青木正儿则是战后日本著名的“京都学派”中承上启下的一位研究中国古典戏曲的知名日本学者。二十世纪上半叶,狩野直喜、内藤湖南、铃木虎雄、青木正儿等一批受近代西式教育成长起来的日本学者以实证论为其“中国学”(支那学)的理论支撑,以“实事求是,义理明彻,不恃聪明而向壁虚造,不务易入俗耳以邀世誉”的治学精神,以“卓然自守,持风气而不为风气所动,斯之谓真读书人”的治史态度,对“中国学”特别是中国古典戏曲进行了一系列不懈的深入研究,取得了卓而不群的研究成果,青木正儿正是他们当中杰出的代表之一。
