The News of the World, a 168-year-old newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch, was forced to close in July this year after a serious violation of press professional ethics, such as the private telephone call tapping civilian girl Millie Dole, . However, with the constant exposure of the incident, the public found out that this was only the tip of the iceberg of the incident. What really came to the issue was not just the “News of the World,” but the entire British newspaper culture. This article attempts to clarify the story behind the “bugging event” along the lines of the incident.
