The RAY Geophysics division of MANDREL INDUSTRIES has digital processing centers in Houston, Texas, in the United States, London in the United Kingdom, and Tripoli in Libya. The Department began the development of digital processing software systems (then geosciences) in 1961, digital processing of geophysical data in 1964 and field digital seismographs in 1965. It is the earlier department that processes digital data using a general purpose computer. The three processing centers within the Department of Radiology and Geophysics all have more complete digital processing tools, including analog-to-digital converters, 7, 9 and 21-track tape drives, various drawing and machine services, and in-house programming. The Houston Center uses the CDC1700 and CDC3300 computers, while the London and Tripoli centers use IBM 360/44 computers. All are equipped with high-speed convolvers, high-speed tape drives (150 hours per second), large disks (84 million characters, 6 characters per character). This article mainly introduces its processing procedures, including the initial processing, analysis and processing, supporting a total of about 50 procedures.
