自1978年以来《朗文当代英语词典》前后有三版问世,成为继《牛津现代高级词典》之后又一部成功的学习词典。本文试图分析《朗文当代英语词典》的编纂特点及走势,归纳如下:选词覆盖面广,新词丰富多采;使用定义专用词汇,坚持定义词比被定义词更简单的原则;进一步简化语法标号;充分利用语库,词典编写计算机化;重视图示,事半功倍;针对语言难点、疑点,用法注解有的放矢;渗透语用知识,注意语言的交际功能。此外,本文还分析了《朗文当代英语词典》前后三版的不足之处。
Since 1978, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English has come out in three editions, becoming one of the most successful lexicographic dictionaries since the Oxford Advanced Dictionary. This article attempts to analyze the features and trends of the codification of the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, summarized as follows: the wide coverage of the terms, the abundance of new words; the use of the definition of specific vocabulary, adhere to the definition of words than the definition of words is more simple principles; to further simplify the grammar Label; make full use of language library, computer dictionary compilation; emphasis on illustration, do more with less; for language difficulties, doubts, usage annotation targeted; infiltration of pragmatic knowledge, pay attention to the communicative function of language. In addition, this article also analyzes the shortcomings of “Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English” before and after the three editions.
