城郊是介于城市和农村之间的一个特殊社区,由于它地处城市和农村的中间地带,同时兼有城市社区和农村社区的某些特征。然而,城郊赖以存在和发展的基础、性质与职能,无论与城市还是与农村相比,都有其自身明显的特点。因而它既不属于城市社区亦非农村社区,而是一个与l城市、与农村处于同等地位的独立的社会经济系统。为此,有必要在我国建立和开展城郊社会学的研究。
Suburbs are a special community between urban and rural areas, as it is located in the middle of urban and rural areas, with some characteristics of both urban and rural communities. However, the basis, nature and function of suburban existence and development have their own obvious characteristics, not only in cities but also in rural areas. Therefore, it is neither an urban community nor a rural community, but an independent social and economic system that is on an equal footing with the cities and rural areas. Therefore, it is necessary to establish and carry out the research of suburban sociology in our country.
