一九八七年底止,我省有林业高等院校林些部部属西南林学院一所;省属林业中等专业学校一所、林业技工学校一所;林业子弟中学十六所,其中完全中学七所,初级中学九所;林业子弟小学一百二十二所,其中小学校六十三所,教学占一五十九个,地州十所农业学校附设林业班十八个。原有一所林业干部学校,由于多种原因学校不能继续办学,于一九八六年春已撤消。职工正规化教育和短期训练,除依靠部属六所林业大学外,每年在省林校、林科院、林业中心医院和石林林场举办十五期训练班。绝大多数地州市县没有培训基地,他们根据自己的需要与可能,每年都在举办训练班。全省平均培训林业职工近万人次。一九八七年,中央农业广播学校在云南十一个地州市林业职工中,招收休业专业学员一千七百三十一名。
