由铁二院勘测设计的我国第一条跨海铁路——粤海铁路通道全面开工仪式于1998年8月30日在海口市新港举行。 全长542.6 km的粤海铁路通道北起粤西重镇湛江,穿越雷州半岛,铁路轮渡横跨琼州海峡与海南岛西部既有铁路接轨,直达三亚,是全国铁路今年十大开工重点项目之一。
The first ground-sea railway in China, which was surveyed and designed by the Second Hospital of Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., started the groundbreaking ceremony of the Yuehai Railway thoroughfare on August 30, 1998 in Xingang, Haikou City. The 542.6 km-long Yuehai Railway passes through Leizhou Peninsula in the north west of Guangdong, crossing the Leizhou Peninsula. The railway crosses the Qiongzhou Strait to the existing railway in the west of Hainan Island and directly connects with Sanya. It is one of the ten key projects started by the National Railway this year.
