顾维钧是我国近现代史上最卓越的外交家之一,曾任北洋政府国务总理,国民政府驻法、英大使,联合国首席代表、驻美大使,海牙国际法院副院长;被誉为“民国第一外交家”。1972年,出席联合国大会的章含之曾受毛泽东之托,邀请他访问中国大陆;1985年顾病逝于美国纽约,时任中华人民共和国常驻联合国代表李鹿野前往吊唁。因为他要经常与外国人打交道,他还有一个英文名字:ViKyuinWellingtonKoo(维钧·威灵顿·顾)。顾维钧为人谦卑,特别是对下属非常和蔼。更难能可贵的是,能在下属面前勇于承认自己的错误,绝不护短。在顾国 Gu Weijun is one of the most distinguished diplomats in modern history in China.
