如果你跟一个艺术品拍卖公司的人聊市场行情,他们总是有一个词敷衍你“谨慎乐观”。不过这个词相当受用,因为所谓的业内人士在预判未来行情时总是持保守的态度。尽管香港苏富比在秋季拍卖之前乐观的将拍品总估价定在16亿港元(这比春拍总估价足足多了6亿),但是最终却收获了30.8亿港元的总拍卖额,创造了香港苏富比自成立以来单季总拍卖额之最,这使得之前的预估显得那么的“谨慎”。
If you talk to a person who works as an art auction company, they always have a word that says “cautiously optimistic.” However, the term is quite used, because the so-called industry insiders always hold a conservative attitude in predicting the future of the market. Although Sotheby’s optimistic about the auction in Hong Kong set the total price of the auction at HK $ 1.6 billion (which is more than 600 million more than the total price of the spring auction), it eventually won the total auction amount of HK $ 3.08 billion and created Sotheby’s Hong Kong has had the highest single-quarter total sales since its inception, making the previous estimate “cautious.”
