20年来,研究会带领全国中学数学教育工作者为实现我国数学教育的现代化、提高数学教育质量进行了不懈的努力。成为我国数学教育研究与实践的核心力量。通过组织课题研究、紧密结合数学课堂教学实际的教学研究、优秀中学数学教育论文评选、中学青年数学教师优秀课观摩与评比活动等,取得了大量高水平的数学教育研究成果,并为我国培养了一大批数学教育研究、教学的优秀人才。发扬学术民主、提倡不同学术观点的争鸣、坚持真理、鼓励创新成为研究会的优良传统;继承我国数学教育的优秀传统,与时俱进,开拓创新.进一步提高学术水平和实践能力,在教育创新中再立新功,成为研究会新的奋斗目标。
