Small bowel adenocarcinomas are remarkable for theirrarity, difficult diagnosis and poor prognosis. Here wereport an unusual case of a 33-year-old patient in whominfiltrative adenocarcinoma of the small bowel was diag-nosed after a 10-year history of Crohn’s disease. In mostpreviously reported cases, detection of Crohn’s diseasewas subsequent to that of carcinoma of the small bowelor the patients involved had an even longer history ofthe disease. Our literature review suggests that the riskof small bowel adenocarcinoma is higher in patientswith Crohn’s disease than in the overall population.Wepresent details on epidemiology as well as clinical anddiagnostic aspects of this rare disease entity.
