尼古拉斯·拉迪(Nicholas R.Lardy),美国著名的中国问题专家,现任地处首都华盛顿的布鲁金斯学会(TheBrookings Institution)外交政策研究项目高级研究员。他从60年代起即致力于中国经济问题的研究,撰有《中国的经济发展与布局》(1978)、《中国现代经济发展中的农业》(1983)、《陈云关于中国发展的战略》(合编,1983)、《剑桥中华人民共和国史》(经济部分,1987)、《对外贸易与中国经济改革,1978—1990》(1992)、《中国在世界经济中》(1994)等专著,现集中研究中国经济转型中的金融体制。在密切关注中国经济的同时,拉迪教授近年也非常关心中美关系,曾多次在美国国会作证,要求继续给予中国最惠国待遇以及支持中国尽早加入世界贸易组织。1996年12月上旬拉迪教授访华期间,于12月8日在上海锦江饭店接受了本次采访。
Nicholas R. Lardy, a well-known American expert on China, is currently a senior fellow in foreign policy research at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC. He has devoted himself to the study of China’s economic problems since the 1960s. He authored “Economic Development and Distribution in China” (1978), “Agriculture in Modern Chinese Economic Development” (1983), “Chen Yun’s Strategy for China’s Development” ( (Eds., 1983), History of the People’s Republic of China in Cambridge (Economic Section, 1987), Foreign Trade and Economic Reform in China, 1978-1990 (1992) and China in the World Economy (1994) Focus on the financial system in China’s economic transition. While paying close attention to China’s economy, Professor Radey has also been very concerned about the Sino-U.S. Relations in recent years. He has repeatedly testified before the U.S. Congress and demanded that China continue to give it the most-favored-nation status and support China’s accession to the World Trade Organization as soon as possible. During his visit to China in early December 1996, Professor Radi accepted this interview on December 8 at Shanghai Jin Jiang Hotel.
