Some of the survivors of World War II had mental illness called post-traumatic stress disorder, symptoms of frequent nightmares, frequent fear, depression and loss of memory. To study the relationship between this disorder and memory impairment, scientists at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York studied the condition of some patients in old age.
