多年来,蔚秀园作为一处以水景为主的清代名园,静静地隐身于万泉河南岸,遥对西山。虽经岁月沧桑,物换星移,但还能窥见南湖中岛上前所正房及西房遗存的华贵屋顶、湖西岸残丘上歇山式四方古亭和保持基本完好的整个山形水系。2014年秋冬季开始,北京大学专门成立办公室,对西校门对面蔚秀园里中岛和东岛上原住居民大杂院进行了清理腾退,据说是有关部门计划投资修复现存古建筑,以备教学研究之用。这也让这座昔日“大观园”的保护利用再一次进入到人们的视野。有关园史,燕京大学教授洪业(煨
