自从去年一月间中央学术名词统一工作委员会化学名词审查委员会委托中国化学会拟定了「化学名词草案」,并号召国内化学界对于这个草案反映意见后,我会「化学世界」编审委员会各同仁以化学名词之决定对于我国化学学术之推进至关重要,经几次交换意见,决定由我会邀集在沪的化学工作同志,于去年八月间,成立修订化学名词委员会,并拟定了修订化学名词的八项原则如下:一、已用惯而无重大错误或不妥当之名词,应仍采用,不予更动。二、普通与化学无关之名词,应予刪除。三、避免多造新字;倘不得已而必须造字时,最好先把族类定出有意义之名称(如甾族、(?)族等
