Knowledge of how energy flows has great benefits for designers of both products and packaging. Imagine how good it would be to predict how long a product would last before it broke under random vibration conditions or if it could develop a more environmentally friendly packaging without a cushioning characteristic. Statistical energy analysis (SEA) has not yet been applied to packaging, but this article will show that this method can help solve the above problems. After some experimental studies, it has been found that SEA not only serves as a predictive tool, but also offers the possibility of developing a new cushioning evaluation technique.
