选矿是冶金生产的重要工序,对于我国贫矿的利用尤为重要。选矿设备中许多金属机件直接加工处理高硬度的矿料,而且是连续不断地工作,处理量又大,所以受到强烈的磨料磨损。这类易磨件使用寿命短,需要经常更换,对于连续生产十分不利,而且造成大量的人力及材料的消耗。机件不抗磨时常成为各个矿山的老大难问题。机件失效与设计,操作及材料都有关系,然而材料的冶金质量差或选材不当时常是个十分重要的原因。目前,选矿设备的易磨件使用的材料,包括橡胶、陶瓷及钢铁,然而主要的仍是钢铁材料,因为它价格便宜而且适用性强。高锰钢固然是一种较好的抗磨材料,仍然适用于破碎设备中
